STAFF AND CONSULTANTS

Professor Jeff French: Is the CEO of Social Marketing and is a thought leader and consultant with many years experience working on behaviour change, social programme strategy, programme planning and evaluation and public policy. Jeff hasover thirty years experience of working in the public, NGO, academic and the for-profit sector on the design delivery and evluation of effective and efficient social programmes.

Susan Burns.

Susan has a wealth of knowledge gained from working in the financial services industry before moving into the development sector. Susan’s experience has been gained working in South, East and West Africa. Susan experience includes; finance, advertising, media planning, buying and monitoring. Susan also specialises in experiential marketing, PR, program research, evaluation and Social Marketing. In Ghana, Susan managed a Global Fund malaria voucher scheme project & a DFID net retreatment projects before joining local NGO ESM. At ESM Susan was involved with USAID funded family planning, nutrition and water purification projects. Most recently Susan has been assisting with the expansion and developing the Social Marketing division of Exp.

Dr Peter Duncan

Peter is Director of P and J Duncan Ltd, which offers research and consultancy services in the fields of health promotion and public health. He is also Visiting Senior Research Fellow at King's College London. He has over thirty years of experience in the areas of health care, health promotion and public health. His expertise lies in the fields of qualitative research, policy analysis, and training. He is particularly interested in ethics and professional development in public health and health promotion and has authored or co- authored three books and many journal articles on these and related areas.

Professor Lee Adams

Lee is a very experienced senior public service professional with a career spanning 40 years -in education, the NHS and local government. Lee also has experience of non executive work in the voluntary sector, as well as academic experience and publications. Lee has been a senior manager for much of her career, including being CEO of a large District Council and Deputy CEO of Sheffield City Council, A Director of Public Health in Leeds, along with many years as a senior management in the NHS undertaking commissioning .Lees skills include- change management-she has led very successful improvement agendas in three councils; cultural and organisation development; policy development and analysis and community development. Lee has a strong commitment to and track record in equalities, community involvement, partnership and leadership development.

Dr Marco Bardus

Marco is a researcher in health communication with experience in behaviour change interventions. With a background in public relations and journalism he is interested in translating research findings into recommendations and policy applications. He has also served as teaching assistant for the master’s level Social Marketing Course at the Università della Svizzera italiana (University of Lugano). He is also involved in the Communication task group of the European Social Marketing Association (ESMA).

Harjit Kooner MBA

Senior Consultant. Over ten years’ experience working in public/private sectors & blue chip pharmaceutical organisations. Extensive experience at senior level, delivering programs, project management, achieving measurable and sustainable results on time and within budget. Areas of expertise Behaviour Change, Sales and Marketing, Business Development, Process Redesign, Stakeholder Management, Research and Insight Development. Areas of Interests include Pharmaceutical Industry, Food Industry, Health Inequalities and Environment.

Anne Willis

Office Manager and Researcher. Expertise in child development and early years and education sector. Former LEA Early Years Adviser. Twenty five years experience in the Education sector and the for-profit sector.

Kevin McCarthy

Kevin is a senior strategic social marketing planner with strong insight skills with over twenty years’ experience in the field. Sector experience includes Smoking Cessation / Shisha / NHS Health Checks / Primary Care Provision & Motivations / Occupational Health Presenteeism and Absenteeism / Oral Hygiene / Physical Activity / Organisational Wellness / Energy Consumption / Green Travel. Kevin has worked extensively in both the commercial and not for profit sectors.

Toni Bennett

Toni has many years experience working in the public and voluntary sector as a fundraiser and marketer. She has a track record of raising income and awareness for a variety of causes including conservation, health, education, performing arts and international development. Member of the Institute of Fundraising.

Sarah Cork

Senior Social Marketing Consultant, mentor and trainer with special interest in positive health, social and environmental behaviour of children, young people and their families. Twenty expertise in collaborative working, bringing the public, private and community sectors together to tackle behavioural challenges with maximum impact and minimum spend.

Professor Graham Lister

Graham is a sociologist and economist working on aspects of behaviour change for the Department of Health, the EU and the World Health Organisation. He has worked and lectured in some 50 countries and enjoys an international reputation for health policy and leadership projects.

George Perlov

George is a social marketer with interest and experience in health, safety, environmental and community engagement issues. He has specific expertise in campaign research and planning, developing communications campaigns, and evaluation. He provides technical support and training to campaigners as well as capacity building for organizations building social marketing and communications practices.

John French

Senior digital media and arts marketing adviser. Seven years experience of working in the public arts and heritage sector for charitable and not-for-profit organisations. Areas of special interest and experience include arts and heritage marketing, campaign planning and creative campaign generation, media buying, events management and publications. Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Dr Sam Revill

Senior Consultant. Behaviour Change Strategy, Insight, Health Improvement, and Programme Evaluation and Research. Areas of interest include: Health inequalities, co-creating health and wellbeing. Experience: Twenty years experience in the public, private, academic and third sector.

Dr Allison Thorpe

Senior Public Health Researcher and public health specialist. Twenty years experience in the public health and academic fields including international assignments. Extensive experience in editorial support, publications and writing in the fields of health, environment policy, evaluation and science.

Dr Thomas French

Head of International Advice and digital marketing consultant. Areas of interest include defence and security studies and international relations. Eight years experience in the academic and for profit sector.

Avis Johns

Avis has a keen interests and experience in alcohol, drugs (particularly work on policy and engagement for the Global Commission on Drugs Policy) and young people's sexual health/pregnancy (with a range of national organisations). Avis is also a preferred supplier to the NUS - supporting them and Students Unions in the UK with consumer engagement, communication, brand and alcohol practice.

Adam Crosier and Dom McVey

Social researchers with an interest in the use of social marketing for public health and tackling social inequalities in health. Extensive experience in using research to inform public health interventions. Quantitative and qualitative research experts, and strongly support the notion that evaluations of social marketing interventions should incorporate research designs that are capable of determining whether an intervention was effective. Have worked with a wide range of agencies including the Department of Health, the NHS, NICE and public health advocacy NGOs.

Kaori French MA

Head of Translation Services and Japanese representative of Strategic Social Marketing. Eight years experience in translation services, mining and new technology.

Amanda Stocks

Senior Consultant. Areas of expertise includes social marketing, market research and analysis, PR and events management, business development and turn round, stakeholder and partnership management. Specialist areas including tobacco control, alcohol, sexual health, fuel poverty, fire prevention and aspiration in children and young people and inequalities. Twenty years experience.
